Beef, Chilli & Bacon Burgers

Succulent burgers with hidden bits inside

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons wholegrain mustard
  • 40g Swiss cheese, grated
  • 3 rasher bacon, rind removed, chopped finely
  • ½ teaspoon dried chilli flakes
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • 4 hamburger buns, split, toasted
  • Lettuce, tomato & tomato sauce, to serve


  1. Combine mince, egg, mustard, cheese, bacon and chilli in large bowl. Use your hands to mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
  2. Shape the mince mixture into 4 large patties. Place on a plate, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until required.
  3. Preheat barbecue flat plate on medium. Lightly spray both sides of the patties and barbecue for 4-6 minutes each side or until browned and cooked through.
  4. Meanwhile, preheat barbecue grill on medium-high. Toast cut side of the hamburger buns. Spread the buns with butter, top with lettuce, tomato, patty and tomato sauce. Serve with beer.
