For this recipe, you'll need a Sunbeam Multi Zone Air Fryer Oven. This recipe makes 2 burgers that are double stacked or 4 single burgers. When making homemade burgers, look for a higher fat minced beef. This is important to retain a juicy burger that’s rich in flavour.
Ingredients:
- 500g minced beef
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce (adds great flavour)
- 4 slices burger cheese
- 2 or 4 Brioche burger buns, toasted
- Burger sauce
- Curly lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomato
- Sliced gherkins
Let's make it:
Step 1:
Place the minced beef into a bowl and break up. Season generously with the salt and pepper, add the Worcestershire and fish sauce and mix together. Divide into 4 piles.
Step 2:
Remove the middle partition from your air fryer, place the large roasting tray into the air fryer and heat on turbo crisp for 5 minutes.
Step 3:
Add the 2 piles to the tray, slightly flatten down and place back into the air fryer oven.
Step 4:
Select grill and adjust the time to 8 minutes.
Step 5:
Cook the burgers for a couple of minutes, then remove the tray, add a small piece of baking parchment to each burger then flatten down (smash down fully) until the meat piles are flattened.
Step 6:
Place back into the air fryer and cook for a further 3 minutes.
Step 7:
Remove the tray and turn over the burgers, adding a cheese slice for the last minute of cooking.
Step 8:
Once cooked, remove from the air fryer oven, wrap loosely in a little foil and repeat with the remaining 2 burgers.
Step 9:
Build your burgers with the sauce, lettuce, sliced tomato and gherkins and serve immediately.
