For this recipe you will need a Sunbeam SteamFry Air Fryer + Steam.
You will need:
- 2 x 300g packs super firm tofu
- 2 tsp Chinese 5 spice
- 3 tsp cornflour
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil.
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 2 red chillies, thinly sliced
- 2 green chillies, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp dried chilli flakes
- 3 garlic cloves, finely sliced
- To serve - 1 tbsp sesame oil, 3-4 spring onions thinly sliced
For the salt and pepper seasoning
- 2 tbsp salt
- ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ½ tbsp Chinese 5 spice
Let's make it:
Step 1:
Pat the tofu dry, cut into large bite sized pieces and place into a mixing bowl. Sprinkle over the 5 spice, cornflour, soy sauce and sesame oil and stir gently to coat.
Step 2:
Place into the air fryer basket and cook at 200ºC, for 15 minutes, turning half way through cooking for even colouring.
Step 3:
Whilst these are cooking, combine the salt and pepper seasoning ingredients into a small bowl.
Step 4:
Heat a suitable sized frying pan over a medium heat, add the oil, onion and green pepper and stir fry for approx. 3-5 minutes until softened.
Step 5:
Add the chillies, chilli flakes, and garlic and continue cooking for a further minute, remove from the heat.
Step 6:
Once the tofu has finished cooking, spoon over the cooked onion and pepper mixture and return to the airfryer, cooking for a further 3-5 minutes, 200ºC.
Step 7:
Spoon the cooked tofu onto a plate, dust with some of the salt and pepper seasoning and drizzle with a little sesame oil. Serve immediately scattered with the spring onions.
