For this recipe, you'll need a Sunbeam SteamFry Air Fryer + Steam.

You will need:

  • 750g strong white plain flour
  • 1 x 7g sachet dried yeast
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 450ml tepid water
  • oil
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Sesame seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Poppy seeds

Let's make it:

Step 1:

Place the flour, yeast, sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl, gradually add the tepid water, bringing all the ingredients together to make a ball. Tip onto a clean floured worksurface and begin kneading the dough for approx 10 mins.

Step 2:

Wipe out your mixing bowl, add a little oil and sit the dough on top, turn the dough over so it is lightly coated in the oil.

Step 3:

Dampen a clean tea towel with warm water and place this over the bowl. Set aside in a warm place for approx 1 ½ hours until the dough has doubled in size.

Step 4:

Tip the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead to remove the air.

Step 5:

Cut in half, then take each half and cut them both into 3 even pieces. You should have 6 pieces which you will need to cut in half again to give you 12.

Step 6:

Roll each piece into a smooth ball. Push your thumb into the centre on each dough ball and gently shape a large hole into the centre of each bagel. 

Step 7:

Place 4 bagels into the airfryer drawer and spray with water. Ensure the water tank is full. Select Steam and cook for 6 minutes.

Step 8:

Open the drawer and brush the bagels with the beaten egg, adding your choice of seeded topping as you go. Select Air Fry 180c and cook for 10 -12 minutes.

Step 9:

Once cooked, remove from the drawer and place onto a wire rack for cooling. Repeat with the remaining bagels.
